Increasing income and reducing costs

FMG were appointed by Hambleton District Council in 2012 to consider opportunities for increasing income and reducing costs at its leisure centres. The Council currently operates four leisure centres on an in-house basis in the towns of Northallerton, Bedale, Stokesley and Thirsk.

 

The Council asked FMG to carry out an operational review of the leisure centres to identify and appraise opportunities with the aim of generating increased revenue and developing the marginal impact of any investment opportunities on the current business to improve profitability.

 

Our study identified the potential to enhance the health and fitness facilities, marketing and branding improvements, restructuring of the membership offer, website enhancements and improvements to the personal training service as the main opportunities for improving the bottom line for the Council.

 

The Council has implemented our recommendations and subsequently appointed us to examine the feasibility of various facility enhancements which are now currently in the process of being developed.
